Subaru EyeSight

SUBARU’S ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEM

At Subaru, we prioritize comprehensive safety. A key aspect of this is preventing collisions before they occur. That's why we developed EyeSight®, Subaru’s advanced driver assistance system. Acting like a second set of eyes on the road, EyeSight uses two stereo cameras to capture three-dimensional color images with exceptional clarity, almost on par with human vision. More precise than traditional cameras and sensors, EyeSight analyzes the images from both cameras to assess the shape, speed, and distance of objects. This allows it to detect not only vehicles but also motorcycles, bicycles, and pedestrians*. If a potential danger is detected, the system alerts the driver and can even apply the brakes to help avoid an accident. Offering superior safety, EyeSight provides drivers with peace of mind on every journey.

EyeSight Features

At the heart of the EyeSight system are its dual color cameras. Strategically positioned near the rearview mirror, these cameras continuously monitor the road, detecting potential hazards in real-time.

This cutting-edge system enhances situational awareness, bolsters safety, and ensures peace of mind every time you hit the road. Watch the videos below to learn how each element of EyeSight collaborates to create a safer driving experience.

Adaptive Cruise Control
Adaptive Cruise Control lets the driver set the desired speed and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. It continuously monitors traffic conditions, adjusting the engine, transmission, and brakes to ensure the car stays at a safe and consistent speed. Ideal for highways and similar roadways, this feature enhances comfort and convenience during long journeys.

Lane Sway and Departure Warning
Lane Sway and Departure Warning detects when the vehicle drifts or moves out of its lane without the use of turn signals. It provides the driver with both visual and audible alerts to help prevent unintentional lane departures.

Lead Vehicle Start Alert
The Lead Vehicle Start Alert helps the driver stay aware when traffic starts moving again after a stop. If the vehicle in front begins to move and the driver is distracted, EyeSight will notify them with a buzzer and a flashing indicator.

Lane Keep Assist
Lane Keep Assist provides subtle steering adjustments if the vehicle begins to drift out of its lane at speeds of around 40 mph or higher, helping the driver maintain proper lane positioning.

Pre-collision Braking System
The Pre-collision Braking System provides visual and audible alerts to warn the driver of an impending collision. If the driver doesn't take action, the system automatically applies the brakes to either avoid the crash or lessen its impact, depending on speed. If the driver applies the brakes but with insufficient force, the system enhances braking power for added safety.

Pre-Collision Throttle Management
If the vehicle is parked facing an obstacle and the driver mistakenly shifts into drive instead of reverse, EyeSight provides visual and audible alerts. Additionally, the system reduces engine power to help prevent a frontal collision.
